Obiettivi
Il corso invita gli studenti a riflettere sulla relazione tra città e società in una prospettiva trans disciplinare e trans mediale. Lo scopo del laboratorio è far sì che guardando alle diverse declinazioni della relazione tra città e società attraverso i media lo studente riesca ad applicare le pratiche indagine nel campo della ricerca sociale utilizzando i supporti mediatici (cinema, televisione, fotografia, giornalismo, musica, pubblicità....) come terreno di lavoro. Al termine dell'insegnamento lo studente dovrà essere in grado di produrre un breve reel/audiovisivo che possa rappresentare un tema di indagine scelto durante il corso nell'ambito della relazione tra Urbs e civitas, città e società.

Contenuto
Il laboratorio partirà dalla relazione tra città e nuovi media. Si servirà di fonti cinematografiche e documentarie per i seguenti argomenti:
-Urbs e civitas
-Città e Network Society
-Città e transmedialità
Ciascuna lezione sarà suddivisa in:
- Illustrazione di casi-studio sulla relazione Urbs e civitas nei nuovi media
- Lavoro di gruppo: fase di analisi e progettazione del reel
L'ultima lezione sarà dedicata alla revisione dei prodotti audiovisivi della lunghezza massima di 7 min.
Progettazione e produzione del reel saranno risultato di lavoro di gruppo.

Testi adottati
Per gli studenti frequentanti sarà fornito materiale durante il laboratorio ed è richiesta la lettura dei primi due capitoli del seguente volume
C. Ratti, La città di domani. Come le reti stanno cambiando il futuro urbano, Einaudi, 2017.Per gli studenti non frequentanti è richiesta la lettura di tutto il volume

Materiale e letteratura di approfondimento saranno forniti durante il corso.

Metodo di insegnamento
Il laboratorio è strutturato in 18 ore di lezioni frontali alternate con esperienze e lavori di gruppo sul tema

Learning outcomes
The course encourages students to reflect about the relationship between city and society from a Transdisciplinary and Transmedia point of view. The aim of the workshop is to encourages students to explore a different way of the relationship between city and society by media (film, television, photography, journalism, music, spot etc.) as field of investigation.At the end of the course, students should be able to produce a short reel that represents a chosen research topic within the context of the relationship between Urbs and civitas, City and Society.

Course contents
The starting point of Workshop is relationship between Cities and New Media.
Workshop will use film and documentary sources to work on Topics:
- Urbs/civitas and New Media
- City and Network Society
- Cities and transmediality.
Each lesson will be divided into:
- Case studies on the relationship between Urbs and civitas in new media
- Analysis, planning and content of the reel
The final lesson will be dedicated to reviewing audiovisual products with a maximum length of 7 minutes.
The project and production of the reel will be the result of team working.

Text Books
Attending students will be provided with papers, link and frames during the workshop and are required to read the first two chapters of the following volume:C. Ratti, The City of Tomorrow: How Networks Are Changing the Urban Future, Einaudi, 2017.Non-attending students are required to read all the book.

Bibliography
Materials are provided to students during the workshop and uploaded to the classroom.

Teaching methods
The workshop is structured in 18 hours of face-to-face teaching, team experiencing and team producing on focus.
