The circular economy is reshaping the economic landscape, turning environmental challenges into opportunities for employment, consumption, inclusivity, and social cohesion. Technological advancements are driving such a transformation. Both the EU and Italy have presented strategies to facilitate the transition towards a circular economy. Undertakings play a crucial role in adopting and disseminating circular economy principles and practices. However, there is a gap in understanding undertakings' adoption of technological innovations for this transition, as current information collected at the business level is limited and fragmented. This proposal aims to address such a gap by conducting a survey on undertakings in the circular economy sector throughout Italy. The survey will focus on undertakings' circular economy activities, as well as on the advantages and obstacles to implementing circularity, technological intensity, on the various kinds of innovation (product/process, radical/incremental), patents, and R&D investments. The collected data will be processed in order to establish a comprehensive relational database capable of supporting various data analysis operations and easily integrating with other sources of information. The final step of the project will involve constructing a range of territorial indicators, utilizing georeferencing techniques to represent the data and indicators effectively.
